At the "Sango Genesis Event" on July 3, 2022, CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadera unveiled the state-backed Sango Coin alongside plans for a crypto hub, a Bitcoin-backed reserve, and citizenship- and land-by-investment schemes priced in the token. The follow-up token sale that opened later in July managed to sell only about $1.6 million of its $1 billion ambition, and the project's coin listing was repeatedly delayed before quietly fading.
