Genesis Global Holdco and its lending arms Genesis Global Capital and Genesis Asia Pacific filed for Chapter 11 in the Southern District of New York on the night of January 19, 2023, owing creditors billions. The collapse trapped roughly $900M belonging to 340,000 Gemini Earn users and pulled parent Digital Currency Group into a sprawling, litigious unwind — another domino in the post-FTX lending contagion.
