JPMorgan announced JPM Coin, a dollar-pegged token running on its Quorum blockchain for instant wholesale settlement between institutional clients. It was the first digital currency issued by a major US bank, arriving from an institution whose CEO had two years earlier called Bitcoin a fraud. Retail users, naturally, were never invited.
