On October 1, 2020, Dapper Labs opened its officially licensed NBA Top Shot to all fans, letting anyone buy and trade blockchain "Moments" minted on the Flow blockchain, with distribution through the Samsung Galaxy Store. Pitched as collectible highlight clips rather than crypto, it became the on-ramp that introduced NFTs to sports fans who had no idea what a wallet was — and by early 2021 it was generating hundreds of millions in sales.
