On 29 October 2013, a Robocoin kiosk operated by Bitcoiniacs went live at the Waves Coffee House in downtown Vancouver, becoming the first machine to let ordinary people swap physical cash for Bitcoin and back. It reportedly cleared over CAD $10,000 across 81 transactions on its first day, kicking off a global ATM industry that now spans tens of thousands of units.
